I remember when I got a job after university, I was really excited that I now had “my own money”. However, I said to myself, “If I could only get a job in the future with more money I would be happier”, I would be able to get all those gadgets I dreamed of.
Fast forward to 5 years later, I still had the same thoughts. Fast forward 20 years later and I still had those same thoughts.
It then struck me that there will always be something that I want, so I decided that I would consciously enjoy the times that I have now. I would make the best of life now – in the present. I would focus on the main thing that really brings satisfaction now and, in the future, – Knowing Christ (John 17:3)
